Measuring What Matters
14 June 2024

Impact reporting loves a clean number. Fifty women trained. A hundred artisans reached. Three lakh raised. These figures are true, and they matter — but they are the surface of the work, not its depth.
Our research tries to hold two things at once: the quantitative and the human. We track income, yes, but also decision-making — who in the household now controls the money a craft earns, and what changes when she does.
The most durable outcomes are the hardest to graph. Confidence. Voice. The willingness to name a fair price and hold it. We are building methods, borrowed from participatory research, to make these visible without flattening them.
If there is one finding we would underline, it is this: dignity is not a by-product of income. Often it is the cause. Restore a woman's standing in her own economy, and the numbers tend to follow.
